Dentures, Including Repairs And Relines

If you are missing teeth, dentures are a logical solution. In fact, as a result of modern dentistry there are several teeth replacement options available to you including full or partial dentures and bridges.

Our Goal

At All Needs Dental, we provide you with the best dental care possible. The dental team, led by Dr Achilles Constantinidis, works with you to improve and maintain good oral health. For some of our patients, that includes false teeth as a tooth replacement option.

Dentures – What Are They?

Dentures – also known as false teeth – are removable replacements for missing teeth. They are constructed from an acrylic plastic or cobalt metal and are comprised of artificial gums and teeth that are attached to either material. They are custom designed to fit perfectly in your mouth and are moulded to your gum and jaw line.

Why You May Need Dentures

Choosing to not replace missing teeth can result in many different complications. They can include:

  • Difficulty chewing and biting
  • Complications with speech
  • Alterations to your facial appearance
  • Teeth that shift
  • An unattractive smile
  • Progressive loss of bone

Types of Dentures

The family-friendly team at All Needs Dental will recommend one of two different types of dentures, depending on your specific situation. The choices are partial and full dentures.

A partial denture is often used when there are still some natural teeth in the mouth. As the name suggests, it partially fills gaps between teeth with false ones. Partial dentures are secured in place with metal clasps.

A full denture is the option used when few natural teeth remain. In some cases the remaining teeth are extracted and a complete ‘plate’ of false teeth is used as replacements. These dentures are designed for either the upper or lower set of teeth and are held in place with adhesives.

Relines and Repairs

Over time, false teeth can become damaged. Even with proper care, a dropped plate can chip, crack or even break. This will require a denture repair. Other times, jaw lines can change shape over time and cause dentures to fit poorly. The best option to correct this is through a relining process.

All Needs Dental provides not just denture construction, but we repair and reline onsite as well. In most cases, minor repairs can be completed on the same day. Relines can usually be ready on the following business day. Full denture construction can be possible in four to six appointments.
